We are thrilled to let you know that Srijana Bantawa completed the Milton Keynes half marathon and has raised over £400 for the trust. She has kindly written a piece about her experience.
My best friend Sam, (in the the pictures), originally asked me to join her in the MK Half Marathon on 2nd May. I had taken part in a 10k Race for Life event for Cancer Research before but never contemplated a half marathon for my next challenge!
Training for the event was admittedly slightly lacking but encouragement from my fiancé, along with the generous donations received from friends and family definitely spurred me on. When it came to choosing a charity to run on behalf of, as mentioned in my first email to the trust, my mum dad have been in the UK for over 35 years but are, along with a lot of my family, originally from Darjeeling so it was lovely to seeing all the positive things that are being done for the children over there. I last went there when I was about 5 or 6 but we are all hoping to go on a big family trip in the next year or so.
The run was very tough, (as you’d imagine!) but as much of a cliché as it sounds, it really is amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it! Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to raise more money for this amazing cause.
Srijana thank you so much for all your hard work and raising such a great amount for the Darjeeling Children’s Trust. When you get to Darjeeling you will be able to see our work.
